Welcome to the leap day edition of poetry and prayers! We have a poem I wrote in January 2021 (never shared before) inspired by the ending of the Lord’s prayer and a prayer of praise and adoration based on Psalm 19.
‘The people we call ‘poets’, by which I mean true, real poets, they’re merely very keen listeners who’ve learned to recognise when a poem’s dropping by’
- From Ireland: A Novel by Frank Delaney
Yours is the Kingdom
Breathtaking mountain heights
Mysteries of ocean depths
Righteousness, peace, joy
In the Spirit of Holiness.
Making all things new
Healing broken hearts
Binding up wounds
Restoring what is broken
Providing for the poor
Finding the lost
Embracing the prodigal who limps home.
Yours is the Power
Third day resurrection
Dry bones coming alive
Spirit poured out
Sin erased by blood
Stories of overcoming.
Yours is the Glory
Humility personified
Service to all mankind
Grace upon grace
Truth revealed
Light everlasting
Eternity realised in the heart of all who believe.
Psalm 19
Father God,
Your law is perfect, refreshing the soul. Your statutes are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Your precepts are right, giving joy to my heart. Your commands are radiant, giving light to my eyes. The fear of You is pure, enduring forever. Your decrees are firm, and all of them are righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them I am warned; in keeping them there is great reward. But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults, keep me also from wilful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
Amen.
Grace and peace to you and yours,
Ishah Xx
Powerful, profound, and punctual (for me). Thank you for sharing your heart, soul, and spirit.
