Blessings to you all this Christmastide. I don’t know how you are faring in this ethereal/ routine out the window/ long stormy days between Christmas and New Years, but I could do with realigning my mind and heart towards Christ in this liminal space.
May these poems and prayers help light the way.
(All poems are my own unless otherwise stated)
We can rest in the consistency of the seasons God remembers us He is faithful While the earth remains Seed-time and harvest Cold and heat Winter and summer Day and night Shall not cease We find comfort in the seasons God has remembered He has kept His promise.
A prayer based on Jude 20-21 (The Holy Bible)
Father God,
Thank You that You are able to keep us from falling, and to present us to Yourself without fault and with great joy. We pray we would continue to build ourselves up in our most holy faith and teach us to pray in the Holy Spirit. Help us to keep ourselves rooted in Your love as we wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring us to eternal life.
In Your name Lord Jesus, Amen.
And to end; a beautiful Postlude based on Psalm 72 :17-19 from Jonathan Gibson’s Advent Liturgy in his recent book ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’. I often smile with contentment after reading it aloud. I just really appreciate the pure unadulterated adoration and worship it contains. Best read aloud with gusto!
His Name for ever shall endure,
last like the sun it shall;
Men shall be blessed in Him, and blessed all nations shall Him call.
Now blessed be the Lord, our God,
The God of Israel,
For He alone does wondrous works,
In glory that excel.
And blessed be His glorious name to all eternity;
The whole earth let His glory fill.
Amen, so let it be.
Grace and peace to you and yours as we transition from 2023 to 2024. May we go out with joy and be led forth with peace Xx
Beautiful benedictions for the year. Merry Christmas to you & yours, Ishah!
